So i took a tricycle to a friends place today and as we were moving, one of the passengers brought up a very interesting topic for us to discuss that she said she noticed before she entered the vehicle.
She said she saw a poster/banner on the pedestrian bridge which read: Teachers Needed for Voluntary Service to teach SS3 students Economics and Civil Education.(Rephrased) This was written by a public Office Holder.
Her Point:
You as a public servant collect salary and humongous allowances by the side and you want people to voluntarily render teaching service for free to SS3 students in schools in your constituent. Its not fair at all.
Her Opinion:
Don't put out sign-post calling for voluntary service for people that are looking for employment to possibly make ends meet. To me that is stomach infrastructure, you want people to see that you are working.
If you really want to help people be deliberate about it and don't blow trumpet for people to see that you want to give people job, just the same way you gave school children low standard tabs that didn't last a week in the hands of the pupils. Most of those tabs are now where to be found now.
My Take:
If you want to employ people don't say you are looking for cheap labor for the future leaders, Get the best for them, Get people and train them to do the work for our children. They deserve the best.
And for the employment there are better ways to employ people to do the job, please don't look for voluntary teachers and even if you get them pay them because you aren't sitting on a voluntary seat of power.
Let us do things the right way and stop living a mediocre/hypocrite life style especially to those in government.
Leadership is by example not by mer talk.
